The Line Up

Jeff Mills

Jeff Mills - Jeff Mills is considered one of the most brilliant DJ and producers of techno in the World. He is the most recognized representative figure of the Detroit Techno, where he began his career as a DJ on the WDRQ radio in 1984. He has created with “Mad Mike Banks” the collective “Underground Resistance”, which became a reference in the electro sphere. In 1992, Jeff Mills created his own label in Chicago with “Axis”, he could keep his artistic independence and produce his own timeless electronic music compositions, inspired of science fiction. Jeff Mills’ artistic career goes much further than techno music. For over a decade, he’s been transcending disciplines with a large number of collaborations in contemporary art.

Surgeon

Surgeon is also an in-demand DJ, with a busy work schedule spread across Europe, U.S.A and Japan. He has been a resident at House of God in Birmingham since 1993 and also held a three year residency at Berlin's famous Tresor club. Contemporary Surgeon sets have been notable for an experimentation with new DJ technologies, breaking out of the standard format of two record decks and a mixer to embrace cutting edge hardware and software solutions, blurring the line between a DJ set and a live performance. Almost a decade on from the initial impact of the thumping introduction of 'Magneze', Surgeon continues to use techno as a vehicle to carry his artistic message. Oblivious to current trends (although often helping to set them), his work continues to be deep and expressive but still carries through in a club environment. A perfect dynamic tension; balance and counterbalance; screw the roses.

Chris Liebing

Chris Liebing had his first Residency as a DJ in a small club called "Red Brick" 1991 in Giessen, near Frankfurt. Already beginning of 1995 the club had to close down and Chris began working for Eye -Q Records in Frankfurt. Chris gained first worldwide recognition with releases like Audio 07 and Audio 11. He joined the Cocoon Agency in Frankfurt to take care of his growing Booking Schedule and also in that same year, he moved on with his Labelwork and created his own Recordcompany “CLR”. From then on the Labels CLR, Clretry, CLAU, Stigmata and Soap were distributed by Prime in England. In May 2001 he mixed this double CD and started working on his Album for CLR which will hopefully be released within the following year. In 2002 he left Cocoon Booking to manage the Booking Schedule by himself. From now CLR is taking care also of his bookings. 2003: Chris Liebing won the German dance award in the category best national DJ, also nominated were Paul van Dyk, Sven Väth & Westbam.

Dave Clarke

Dave Clarke Dave Clarke was born in Brighton, on 19 September 1968, and he's one of the most respected (and idiosyncratic) techno DJs and producers in the '90s. Dave Clarke began his music career as a hip-hop DJ in the mid-'80s, shifting to acid-house and later rave near the end of the decade. He began recording for Stress (as Pig City) in the early '90s and also appeared on R&S, XL and his own Magnetic North Records. By the mid-'90s, he had gradually shifted away from rave to a brand of straightahead techno with the ferocity of hardcore yet the sublime feelings of classic Detroit techno. A series of three singles named "Red" gained fame during 1993-96 (the last went Top 40 in the U.K.), as did his ferocious DJ sets.

James Zabiela

Zabiela - Knowing what a great track should sound like - and the place it can be taken by warping and twisting it - is James Zabiela's forte. Layering different sounds with the aid of two Pioneer CDJ-1000s, a Pioneer EFX-1000, Korg Kaossilator, MIDI controller and a laptop, his hands and ears don’st let up for a second, leaving any punters feet a-moving and mouth a-gap. Zabiela’s demands for such a kit wherever he spins is a reminder that he's one of the scant few DJs who's pushing things forward in ?09. James' style is trippy, bleepy and deeply - nay, downright - groovy. Oh, and watch out for a few gnarly basslines along the way, those nasty, dirty sounds are a part of JZ's signature now. Scratches, loops, and fluttering chord changes are all par for the course in a Zabiela set. No wonder childhood idols Depeche Mode remain his heroes - like fellow tech-house don Mathew Bushwacka!, they all understand that the best electronic music moves both heart and feet. And if the magic's there, the spirit will fly as well.

Gari Marcos

Marcos started to mix at the age at 14 when he was living in Spain. Growing up he have been involved in different rock and funk band playing guitar, bass, piano or drums. When he moved in 2003 to Frankfurt he got in touch with the Spanish community there. Liquid drum‘n’bass, a style mixing drum‘n’bass and smooth and jazzy melodies, was emerging. He played with DJ Solid Soul and contributes to make Frankfurt the biggest scene od liquid drum‘n’bass of West Germany. During those year that Gari Marcos discovers German electro music. In 2004 he moves to Thessaloniki in Greece, where he had to adapt his style and his selection. Today Gari Marcos in back in Spain, in Valencia, working on new production and on graphic and media design. In this composition he is always looking for the construction and tries to express positiv vibes. Thanks to his experience in Germany and Greece, Gari Marcos sets are alway different depending of the public.

Plastikman

Plastikman (aka Richard (Richie) Hawtin) was born in Banbury, England in 1970, but at the age of nine, his family moved to Windsor, Canada; just over the river from Detroit, the birthplace of techno. His father - a robotics technician at General Motors, fittingly - introduced him to Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and other early computer music, and it was somehow inevitable that he would become infected with the techno virus. He began to DJ in Detroit clubs like Shelter at the age of 17, mixing house and techno with European post-industrial electronic body music by the likes of Front 242, and even had his own show on a Detroit radio station. His albums as Plastikman and his Concept series of 12-inch releases helped to take the genre one step further in the mid-1990s. By this time, established himself as one of techno?s leading innovators, a reputation cemented by his mix CDs.

Agustin

Carl Cox - A perennial favorite as the best DJ in the world according to fans as well as the major mixing magazines, Carl Cox has been a part of Britain's dance scene from the heady days of disco through to the global clubland of the new millennium, with temporary pit stops covering hip-hop, the rare groove movement, and the immense rave revolution of the late '80s. That large span of time has undoubtedly affected his choice of records, since Cox routinely detours through breakbeat, Italian house, and the dance mainstream during his usual sets of hard techno. Perhaps the best testament to his mixing skills is his immense popularity despite his focus on music much more intense than the brand of arena trance spawned by Oakenfold, Sasha, Digweed, and others.
