The other Mobile/Celluar service provider is CelTel and their partner company Tigo , while the Celtel services are adequate on the mainland, they have now transmitter towers based in Utila, and therefore have very weak signal coverage from their transmitters in La Ceiba.
Internet Telephone services are the cheapest and probably the most effective way to call home. Internet telephone services are available from the Utila Telephone Company and all the major Internet Cafes on the island.
Internet Services are provided by private satellite links or Tropico Telephone & Internet, the local Internet Service Provider. There are many Internet Cafes on the island in addition to several Hotels and some of the Dive Shops which offer internet access services for the benefit of their guests.
