Important Announcement for Utila Property Owners

All Utila Property Owners are required to pay their property taxes in April of each year.

Unfortunately the Utila Municipality is only able to issue property tax billing statements when applied for in person at the Municipal Offices and is only able to accept payments made in person in cash or by certified check drawn on a Honduras Bank. We understand that this may cause difficulties for non-resident Property Owners, but we do not currently have the resources to operate a more convenient system. Regardless, it remains the responsibility of every Property Owner to pay their taxes each year.

Regrettably, the current deficit of unpaid taxes owing from previous years has reached an unacceptable level and the Municipality has been ordered to reduce the deficit of unpaid property taxes and to initiate legal proceedings against multi-year debtors immediately. Such legal proceedings may be as severe as property seizure and public auction to recover outstanding taxes and costs.

Since the Municipality has no contact information records for property owners we are urging Utila Real Estate Agents and Developers to inform their past and present clients advising them of this situation. If you are a Utila Property Owner, we also urge you to arrange for your outstanding property taxes to be paid and to please pass this message on to other non-resident property owners.

Since that time there has been a growing conflict of interest between the competitive information previously published on this page and his commitment to The Utila Real Estate Company and as such the previous contents of this page have now been regrettably withdrawn.
